Based in San Francisco, and operating in California, Alaska and Rhode Island, NORCAL Mutual was formed by county medical societies in California in 1975. PMSLIC was formed by the Pennsylvania Medical Society in 1976 and acquired by NORCAL Mutual in 1998. Based in Mechanicsburg, PA, PMSLIC offers medical professional liability insurance in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Headquartered in Austin, TX, Medicus was formed by institutional investors in 2006 and acquired by NORCAL Mutual in 2011. Medicus is an admitted carrier in 35 states across the country, pending rate and forms approvals.
