NORCAL Group Closes 90% of Formal Claims
Without Indemnity Payments
The NORCAL Group of companies — NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company, PMSLIC Insurance Company, and Medicus Insurance Company — closed 90% of formal (reserved) claims in 2012 without indemnity payments.* Of these claims, 21% were closed with no payments whatsoever, while 69% were closed with expenses only — no indemnity payment. Only 10% were closed with indemnity payments. At NORCAL Mutual, PMSLIC, and Medicus, we defend our policyholders with integrity and total commitment.
*A formal or reserved claim is a claim for which money has been reserved and set aside to cover possible expenses and indemnity payments. The amount reserved and set aside is based on an analysis of the claim.
