CPG Program Roots in the Clinic Community
The roots of NORCAL Mutual’s Clinic Purchasing Group program go back to 1987, when several leading nonprofit clinics and associations joined together to create the Clinic Mutual Insurance Company (CMIC), a clinic-owned medical liability insurance company. In 1997 NORCAL Mutual assumed the company’s book of business, roughly 120 clinics in California and other Western states. Since then, the relationship between CMIC and NORCAL Mutual has helped the CPG program to thrive and it has grown to approximately 230 clinics.
